Great Eggspectations*

Nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity.  ~Voltaire

In all the food-troversy regarding what, when, where, how much, how often, and with whom we should eat, Food&theFury wants to be more than just another blog about what one person has eaten or cooks and the interior musings regarding such activities.

Instead, it aspires to be a moveable feast, a la one of my favorite authors, Ernest Hemingway. This collaborative will include recipes, how-to-techniques, and critiques, but, like good eating, it needs interaction. It will include stories of food experiences, observations of food's influence on culture and, as this does include fury, undoubtedly it will get heated.

I will try to write more frequently, as individual post lengths seem a bit more difficult to read. But I look forward to your commentary as well.

Happy Eating!

*Title dedicated to Kimi, may her love of egg-puns be ever-runnying.

Tastebuds Ablaze

"It was inevitable: the scent of bitter almonds always reminded him of the fate of unrequited love."
- Love In the Time of Cholera, Gabriel Garcia Marquez

An acquaintance recently reminded me of that sentence, which he described as the single most profound first line ever.

When considering how to start this blog, it came hurtling into the forefront of my mind.

Welcome to Food & The Fury, a few thoughts on life through flavor.
